I have to drink this much, to be as unfunny as you…

…Patton Oswald, hilarious Bastard.

Been working double time between Miami and Chicago and besides the weather warping I go through, it’s an odd change of gears too. Here in Miami, I’m more leaned on in my job to get shit done while in Chicago I have to just make sure things don’t go to shit. Plus i’m still learning the lay of the land. Luckily I got the GPS on my phone going and thats helped greatly.
Oh yeah and it stopped being TOTALLY fucking cold there. It’s still sorta shitty but nearly as bad as February.
In between then and now I took a trip to San Francisco with my gal,  who dug it, but understood all the underpinning things that make me kind of blech with SF. Mind you, Awesome, awesome, awesome town, but it has so many cliche’ bullshit hipster crap to it at times.
Then again what city isn’t like that?

I mean it just gets to me when the whole “coolness’ factor comes to play on simple things like interaction. Ok so I don’t wear a leather jacket anymore, or color my hair, but I still love punk rock and metal and study it. But if you don’t wear the “uniform of non-conformity” it seems you’re out of the loop and people are less friendly.
You go to Midwest, and not to sound like condescending douche, but I work with some real salt of the earth types folks, good people who work hard and don’t really rise a fuss. On the one hand, it’s sort of aggravating how out of the loop they are and how they seemed so duped by their enviroment and believe what their told. On the other, they greet you with open arms and I’ve seen they’re more open to differing opinions that at least with some graciousness and a chuckle will disagree with you.

I can’t say their is a single example of this that I can point to, but it is there. It’s something that really ticks me off, especially from folks that are so”liberal” they seemingly exclude you.
This is only a thin veil of bullshit in SF, really. And more with American Young than anybody as many of my Mexican, Russian, and Chinese friends there seem to not aggregate this, and my friends overall are very open and reasonable.
Lets just face it, I don’t get along with hippies i guess.

So yeah, this is what crossed my mind as I started this journal. Really I just wanted to say whats up, but here you go, my mind vomiting all over the place.

Held by German firm International Forum Design, WiiSpray was one of 377 finalists in the prestigious awards, from a total 1,368 entires coming in from 24 […]

  • Death, when you come to me July 7, 2009
Hey, I finally put my Kitty Pryde piece together from the scans and here it is. I messed with the background in Photoshop. So it didn’t look exactly like this, the background color was sort off-white or something originally. Thanks to whoever out there bought the original art. I meant to post this a while ago, so if you didn’t see it yet, Douglas Wolk did a […]
  • College Professor Trolls For Science, Finds People Hate Him [Mmo] July 7, 2009
Media professor David Myers, from Loyola University, has been studying how people interact in online games. Of interest to us is his account of what happened when he started trolling people. Myers has been studying human interaction in City of Heroes since it first launched all the way back in 2004, and with his character "Twixt" decided as part of […]
  • Reverse-engineering SSNs from publicly available data July 7, 2009
Computer scientists at Carnegie Mellon University have figured out how to predict Social Security numbers from publicly accessible birth data with frightening accuracy. • Photos of prison DIY tech July 6, 2009
I've always found DIY prison culture to be absolutely fascinating. Inmates are makers by necessity. In 1999, photographer Marc Steinmetz created this fascinating series of photographs depicting DIY tech found in prisons. The series is titled "Escape Tools." From the artist's site: (Above left), Rope Ladder with wooden rungs disguised […]
