SKETCHBOOK: Sticky Pad Notes

I tend to really love my Sticky pad thumbnails I do. I don’t know hwy maybe it’s the looseness or the simplicity, but they tend to vibrate more to me, than my hard nosed “finished” work.

SKETCHBOOK: DENISE from ZOMBIE YEARS

Initial sketch of Denise from Zombie Years. I wanted to go for lithe look that was strong and flexible, like a track and field runner, but facially I wanted her to be wily and empathic.

SKETCHBOOK: LORENZO aka HANK

Some set up sketches for the current ZOMBIE YEARS “Undertow” storyline. Originally I had a whole other look going for Hank but decided that Lorenzo would come into play later. How? You gotta read to find out!

SKETCHBOOK: LUCKY BASTARD character portrait and notes

In trying to visualize the series I have to make comparisons and drawings towards actors I dig, just to get a certain mannerisms and movement down. Plus it’s FUN.

SKETCHBOOK: D&D sketches

I love playing D&D as much as the next guy, but I have a hugely bad habit of having to draw while playing. I can’t help it. I am paying attention mind you, but just need to keep my hands busy. Unless I’m DMing, I’m drawing. SO here was some sketches and notes from a game I jumped on while in LA where I played SUICIDE DOG an NPC trick dog they running around. MORE TO COME

SKETCHBOOK: LUCKY BASTARD, conversation sketches

Trying to nail down the pace and tone of © LUCKY BASTARD, a comedy film I’m working on which I’m making first into a comic book to see if it can spring board towards the screen. I have a lot characters sketches and such but right now I’m just trying to set the tone and how the characters interrelate. See, in superhero comics you can always have someone punch a wall, and even in non-cape books you can have a serious grin or dramatic lighting, but this is going to be a humorous drama, so everything is going to be in it’s movements and facial positions, so you really have to find a way to put that humanity on somebody’s face within that drawing.

SKETCHBOOK: KID FIGHT!

So I’m back to posting! Sorry for the little hiatus in Sketchbook pages! I’ve been busy with the business side of things at CREATURE and Writing up a storm on a new feature and on some other projects so I haven’t been drawing as much, and I haven’t been able to sit at a scanner! Hopefully now I’ll get this ball rolling again with no more interruptions!

© KID FIGHT was a concept I had rolling in my head, about a kid who had these awesome imaginary adventures, saving the world, and eventually he rows out of them. Only then as an adult does he suddenly realize that the villains form that world are now in the real world, and he’s plagued by old allies who need him back. All of a sudden this guys childhood world is coming play in the real world and he has to figure is he’s going fucking nuts or if he’s the only person who can save us all from Evil!

I wanted to work on this and have a full treatment sort of written and drawn out, but since it has some parallels with Tommy, it’s maybe something to tackle afterwards. That, and being essentially a superhero book, sort back burned it for me. I would love to find a comparable artist to work this out with though, see if it could be expanded.
